History
Founded in 1917, National Bearings Company began as a manufacturer of stamped metal products, primarily for the bicycle and automotive industries. In fact, many of the clutches used on the original Model-T Fords used ball retainers manufactured by National. This is the product that launched our company into manufacturing custom bearings and bearing components.
Over the years, National's product lines have expanded tremendously. In addition to metal stampings, we now produce a wide variety of produts that includes Angular Contact Bearings, Plastic Outer Race Bearings, Unground Radial Bearings, Ball and Needle Retainers, Thrust Washers, and Plastic Roller Assemblies. And yes, we still manufacture Cup & Cone, or "bicycle retainers".
